Polar Beat: Running & Fitness App Reviews

Totally useless

the app, wont pair with my H7 heart rate monitor. The iPhone Bluetooth recognizes the monitor but the app wont pair with it. I had a 4S iPhone with which the app worked. then I moved to a 6S iPhone and the app quit pairing with the heart rate monitor even though the 6S Bluetooth recognizes the heart rate monitor. When I use A treadmill the treadmill recognizes the heart rate monitor as well so the only problem can be the app.

Wont Pair

My Polar HR7 will pair with everything but this app. After buying all the in app purchases to help me achieve my goals it stopped pairing, waste of time and money as the app is unusable.

Still wont pair with app.

Bluetooth pairs fine with iPhone but transmitter wont pair with polar app yet works fine with other apps(map my ride, health). Suggested workaround to reset doesnt work for me. Pretty crazy polar cant fix its own app to work properly. Very frustrating.

Stopped pairing

My H7 has also stopped working with this app. Its clearly in the connected devices. Waste of money.

Because I cant rate it zero stars

Does not work. At all. Cant find my H7 sensor even though every other application on this phone can. And even if it did, it doesnt obey HIG guidelines at all.

Pairing Problem Fixed

For those having issues pairing the Polar H7, the solution is on the website. It seems you have to pair the HRM with the app and NOT THE PHONE. Go to the bluetooth settings on your device and find the HRM. Click on Forget This Device. Open the app and you should see the HRM there. Pair it and you’re done. Obviously make sure your battery is good and the electrodes are moistened properly. This fixed it for me.

Useless

The app is poorly designed. Does not connect to my Polar H7 heart rate monitor. iPhone, Polar watch, gym equipment all connect fine but not Polars own app. The utility and design are very poor. Dont bother.

Won’t pair with H7!

This ended up working well with my iPhone 5, and I got a second H7 as well as buying the in-app package. However, in switching to an iPhone 6s (iOS 9.2.1), the Polar Beat app is not pairing with the H7. The H7 itself works fine with gym equipment, it pairs with the iPhone itself, and it works with another app that I downloaded - so, the problem is with Polar Beat itself. I reported the problem to Polar customer service, and haven’t heard anything.

Trouble pairing

I had a lot trouble pairing my h7 monitor to this app. I was just about to take the monitor back and give up when I stumbled on the key. You have to unpair and "forget" the strap from the phone in the Bluetooth settings and then pair with the app.

Yet another iOS update polar not prepared

Still crashing despite update. Bluetooth shows connected. If I forget device, as suggested, it makes no difference. Still crashes. Cant pair in app. Screen closes immediately. Have deleted and re-installed multiple times. So annoying.

It stopped pairing with iPhone 5

It worked fine the first few months; now no matter what I try it will not pair in the app. My spinning bike picks up my Polar HR monitor and it shows up on the phones setting, but the app cant see it. Its maddening!

Polar (For Real Training Feedback)

The way this app works with the phone and/or Apple Watch its better than the Polar V800 for indoor training. Time in zone on watch & web. Recovery chart, Training load plus lots of analytical data on Polar Training website. Works good outside as well if you take your phone. Apple Watch HR is not accurate at all for exercise. Pair with H7, Rhythm+ or other Bluetooth monitor for real accuracy. Dont blame the app for hardware issues. Currently using this with a Rhythm+ paired to Apple Watch as a health device. Works great and as accurate as my Ambit 3.

Dont pay $70 for the heart rate monitor

Paid $70 for the heart rate monitor only to have it never pair after the first use. Useless and a waste of money.

No Activity Link

App works well, especially when using HRM. The only negative feedback I have is that workouts tracked on Apple watch do not appear in your daily activity tracking. Other fitness aps workouts will appear as a workout in Activity, but Polar Beat workouts do not. This puts a damper on fitness tracking. I hope they can ad the ability to sync it to the Activity ap.

STILL wont pair!

Listen, I love this app but Its been almost 2 years and it STILL wont pair. The HRM works and pairs great with FT60 watch but it will not pair with this app. So many people are complaining, its still not fixed. PLEASE FIX IT!

Having trouble pairing? Look no further than the review section (b/c Polar wont help)

January 29th, 2016: Jeebus! So, not the advice of another user review, one must: (1) Delete the Polar App (2) Go to your iPhones Bluetooth settings & forget the device (your Heart Rate Monitor) (3) Go to your iPhone Health App & forget the heart rate monitor there, too. (4) Download the Polar App (5) Reconnect the heart rate monitor (6) and all that other stuff for an at best mediocre app. Way to go Review Section Commenters! Polar should put you on the payroll! January 28th, 2016: what kind of gimmick is this? It hasnt paired with my heart rate monitor for months now (even though ever other app [like MapMy & Nike+] does). Very disappointed. Before: Wish List: The ability to create a workout prior to actually working out. For instance, if I could create my own Benefit Target routine. I wish I could do that. I wish… I wish I could give a workout a title, like “Yoga” or “Group Power”, instead of just “Other Indoor”. But, all in all... I use this app, but I don’t know if shouldn’t just use another one that can just detect the heart rate monitor.

Review

The h7 does NOT connect even when paired, so its essentially worthless to me. Be advised, dont waste your money and get another brand.

Surprisingly awful

For an app designed to work specifically with their own products its stunning that it doesnt work at all. App will not pair with my H7 monitor (the monitor does pair easily with other apps though) and it wont save my physical settings (height, weight, age etc). Zero stars until it works.

Polar Beat - Lost all history data

I like the program but when it loses all data for no reason at all what good is it? Makes no sense that the data is missing since its still accessible in polar flow app. But why need 2 separate apps? Makes no sense. I was going to buy the A360 but with such glitches in the app and the need for multiple apps to retain data history Im going to stick with my H7 and wait until these apps get polished.

Decent

Once you figure out how to pair the HRM with the app the readout is generally fine. However, when I have the workout set to treadmill it doesnt log any miles. Maybe it doesnt work with the accelerometer in the phone? It would be nice if the voice feedback had more flexibility, like you could set it to give you average heart rate and/or current heart rate for the entire run and/or the current segment. Also, tonight it was telling me my avg heart was 170, but when I stopped it said my avg was 153. I dont know what thats about.
