Polar Beat: Running & Fitness App Reviews

App=Terrible, HRM works better with other apps

Makes no sense that the HRM monitor works great with runkeeper and other apps, but is wont even stay connected to this app. Absolutely awful

What happened??!

I was very pleased with this app until just recently went it quit picking my heart rate monitor up. I thought maybe the battery was dead in the monitor so I replaced it but the app still wont connect to the monitor. (And yes, I did the whole delete, forget, etc with no resulting connection). Id blame the monitor but the monitor connected with a totally different app & it works fine. Im to the point of deleting this app - oh wait, I already did that because why have an app that doesnt function correctly taking up valuable real estate in my phone? If its fixed, maybe Ill add it back on, unless I find a new app to love.

Cant Connect, So Whats the Point?

After loving my Polar FT7, I really wanted to be able to automatically upload my data. I purchased the necessary Polar H7 sensor and now it wont pair with that either. The sensor works great! It pairs with my iPhone 6, the Polar FT7, iPhone Health, and Strava, but cant pair with Polars own app. (And yes, Ive deleted and redownloaded, and forgotten the device and reconnected.) Would love to have an app that can track my non-cycling workouts, but I guess Ill have to sync with something else.

Very disappointed

I cant even pair my device, it pairs to my phone it not the app.... How is that possible.

iPhone 6 updated- polar monitor not compatible

Changed battery on H7 and still no life, I just purchased a new one and still cant get it to pair. Help please!!! I love the product but the app is not what it used to be.

Love the app

I love the app but have an issue with the GPS operating even when using non-location dependent work out modes (i.e. Strength Training uses the gps when it isnt supposed to).

Great App, But...

Have been using this app for several months after purchasing the H7 monitor. Love the app, have had no connection issues to date. App works as is supposed to all the time. The only thing I find strange is that no option exists for a stair stepper under "Select Sport", Why? Otherwise Id have given it 5 stars.

Hopeful

I finally got the app to connect to my polar H7. Turns out you dont want the heart rate monitor paired with anything else(including your phone). Only the app. I am hopeful that this is the end of my issues.

App wont pair with brand new H7 hrm strap

Update: I tried doing the whole Un-pairing and deleting and re-pairing thing. It didnt work. What I did find that finally worked was this: make sure that the H7 is turned on by snapping it onto the chest strap, then moisten the electrodes and put it on your body. DO NOT PAIR IT WITH YOUR PHONE THROUGH BLUETOOTH SETTINGS (yet.) Instead, open the Polar app and go to settings menu and then select HR strap and it will pair there inside the app. THEN you can go into your phones Bluetooth settings and pair it there. Voila.. The chest straps readings are now showing up in my Polar app, Health app and on my Polar app for Apple Watch. Welp.. I was hoping the reviews were wrong. Unfortunately, they are not. My brand new Polar H7 hrm will not pair with the Polar app. It is connected to my brand new iPhone 6s Plus via Bluetooth and my Health app is picking up my heart rate from it. The Polar app itself says that there is no hrm connected and when I search for a connection it just gives me an error (giant exclamation mark!)

Bad Paring

First time I tried this app it paired and I used it at the same time with polar ft80 watch. They hart rate was same but was not accurate in calories. After a week till now its not pairing. Terrible apps.

Terrible design

The app isnt even ready for iPhone 6 in 2016 haha

Garbage

Wont consistently Connect with transmitter. I have now purchased two transmitters. This app doesnt work. It is garbage.

Free apps are not nice!

I am very mad. I have an iPhone and an Apple Watch. I thought getting this free app would change the programming and architecture of the watch and make it work independent of a phone and work with my heart rate monitor because I can not read and assume things.

HRM is not connecting to the app. Frustrating.

My Polat HRM is not connecting to the app. Fix? Update?

Buyer beware

I rarely write reviews but this was so bad I just had to warn others. Since I got my Apple Watch Ive been trying to find a way to simply use the heart rate monitor the way a basic heart rate monitor worked 20 years ago. All I want is a reliable heart rate with the ability to set up alerts for target zones and workout in those target zones for a set time. I dont want to have separate setting for biking, running, walking or badminton (no joke, this app has a badminton setting. How effing helpful) Simple right? Wrong. I was amazed that I couldnt find an app like that. This looked promising, but... The app, in order to have any real functionality, requires in app purchases and an $80 chest strap. The description of what you get for your $8 app purchase was terrible but I tried it out. There are 6 preset target zone workouts and no ability to customize them. BS. The directions and support are either totally missing or amateurishly awful. And the chest strap wouldnt pair with the app. It paired with my iPhone 6s, but not the Polar app. Did my best to follow their terrible troubleshooting guide from support page with no success. Even the "contact us" form on the support page doesnt work. Its all pretty useless. I couldnt be more disappointed; the app, the chest strap and the support are all unusable.

Bad HealthKit Integration

Great activity tracking but does not write calories to HealthKit. Would really be useful for communicating with other apps like MyFitnessPal :

No Apple Watch app works

I use this to record my hear rate during spin class. I have a H7 transmitter, iPhone 6, no watch... works each and every time. I have an instant heart rate display, workout history and it sends data to the health app. Does all I need it too.

Cant find paired polar sensor

Never even got as far as finding out how apparently terrible their app is. It doesnt find the sensor. BT prefs shows the sensor is connected.

Stop work w/ H7

After I upgrade the iOS to 9.3 it stop working with H7 sensor!

The sad reality of the human race

First, for the complainers that you cant x with the Apple Watch...please review what you buy and dont make assumptions. If you did, you would have known the watch is for the most part just an interface to the phone, so it needs the phone to do much of anything! Theres no GPS on the watch...can you guess what Im going to say you need to track location on a run??? And why on Earth would it be expected that another companys product will work on their stuff? Why 1 star an app because a POLAR app made for POLAR products doesnt work well with Apple or any other non-confirmed supported device? Heres a helpful lesson to learn: if you dont see anywhere that your device is supported, assume it isnt. Itll save you countless heartache. Done with the rant. The app is good, does what it says it will do, and yes it does have problems with some people syncing the heart rate monitor. For the crazy person walking outside the range of their Bluetooth signal....theres simply no hope for you. Heck my headphones get all wonky with the iTunes app if I do that. Stop blaming crazy things on the wrong person and figure out...how not to walk away from your phone while working out? Id also like to know what workout youre doing that takes you that far away in the first place this is even an issue....
